Matt’s story;
I will be running 100km (62.13 miles) to raise money for Duchenne research.
The research carried out will hopefully slow the progression of the condition (Duchenne muscular dystrophy) and maybe even cure it, in the summer of 2019 my nephew Teddy was diagnosed with this condition.
Approximately 100 boys per year are born with the condition in the UK, it causes the loss of walking normally by secondary school. It is unfortunately, currently fatal with a life expectancy of rarely beyond the age of 30.
I will be running the 100km in six legs all starting from Darts Farm in Exeter and heading to Exmouth sea front along the cycle path and back (each leg will be around 10 miles).
I am looking for people to join in and keep me company for sections of my run (it will be a long old run).
I have done lots of running in the past however never anything like this, and this will be a massive challenge for me to complete.
I will complete the entire 100KM in under 14 hours.
The event is only 12 weeks away so the training alone will be extremely tough.
I am raising money for Action Duchenne as they were extremely supportive of my brother and sister in law after Teddy’s diagnosis.
This cause is very close to all of my families hearts and your donations would be very much appreciated.
Thank you Matt for your support and for taking on this fantastic challenge. If you would like to join Matt please drop us an email info@actionduchenne.org.
