Teachers brave the Zipwire!

This weekend saw an amazing group of teachers and supporters from Bruntcliffe Academy take on the world’s fastest, and Europe’s longest Zipwire.  Situated around the historic Penrhyn Quarry, and ‘zipping’ over the stunning quarry lake, you couldn’t ask for a more beautiful location. 

Our team was organised by Claire Shaw, devoted Auntie to Ashley, who is living with Duchenne.  Claire organised this brilliant group of her friends and colleagues, and was joined by Ashley’s sister Melissa and best friend Molly. 

The team were absolutely amazing and very brave! There were definitely some nerves in the air as we drove the fifteen minutes up the mountain to the top of the wire, watching the group before us zipping overhead as we climbed.  But we did it!  Everyone did brilliantly, made it down safely and although a bit shaky, all were exhilarated and quite deservedly proud of their achievements.

The team have raised over £1800 and are already planning their next adventures, thank you so much Claire, Melissa, Molly, Sam, Alison, Chris, Paige, Danny, Sarah and Liz.
