Yesterday Shelley met with Action Duchenne Ambassador and radio broadcaster, Jonny Gould. Since becoming an Ambassador in March 2019, Jonny has become a key voice and advocate for Duchenne, talking about the condition and our charity work on his radio shows and posting about us to his Twitter audience.
Jonny’s second cousin lives with Duchenne and although he is very familiar with the condition, Shelley talked to him about how Duchenne occurs, how this X-linked condition can be passed from mother to son and the cardiac symptoms for some women carriers that need to be monitored, and equally that Duchenne can occur spontaneously with no family history. Jonny hopes that educating himself further about the condition will help him to better inform others.
We are really grateful to have Jonny’s support to help us raise the profile of Duchenne to a wider audience.
