‘Educating, supporting and empowering’ is the theme of Action Duchenne’s unmissable Annual International Conference 2023, which launches today. We will bring together people from across the world; including individuals living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and their families, patient experts, clinicians, healthcare professionals, industry and equipment providers.
The two-day conference will consist of 3 content streams taking place simultaneously to cover all aspects of the Duchenne journey: Duchenne Science 101, The Duchenne Journey and Living with Duchenne. These include presentations, Q&A sessions, patient expert and clinical expert lead discussions and research updates.
It will take place on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th November at Leonardo Hotel (previously Jury’s Inn), Hinckley Island, LE10 3JA.
“It was such a well organised event. My husband and I can’t thank Action Duchenne enough for organising this event. We would definitely be in a very different space mentally and emotionally had it not been for the excellent support you guys provide us. The opportunity to talk to the top minds in the Duchenne world is something money can’t buy and for that we are immensely grateful.” Duchenne mum, 2022 Conference Attendee
“This conference has been an immense help in our understanding of the condition, as well as learning about current and future treatment options. Having met and listened to so many enthusiastic researchers about the work they are carrying out gives us much hope for the future.” Duchenne dad, 2022 Conference Attendee
Tickets and accommodation
Thanks to the support of our sponsors, partners and exhibitors, we are able to offer FREE tickets to Duchenne families as well as every young person and adult living with Duchenne. In recognition that many families in the Duchenne community are facing increased cost of living challenges and with the generosity of our sponsors for the event, we can offer a £100 grant towards your conference travel and/or accommodation (one grant per family), to help towards the cost of attending the Annual International Conference.
Children and Young People
FREE childcare at the Conference
We know how important it is for you to have the option to bring your children to join you at the conference, where they too can make new friends and be a part of the Duchenne community.
For children aged 0-9 there is a creche run by a professional team who will take good care of them while you make the most of the conference sessions. Older children and young people aged 10-17 can be part of the ‘Hang Out’ with a programme of accessible activities such as music, gaming, Sublime Science, lego building and more.
Spaces in the Creche (0-9) and ‘Hang Out’ (10-17) are limited, so if you are planning to bring the whole family please register as soon as possible.
Sign up for the Creche or Hang Out when you register.
Friday Night Dinner
Let your hair down, dust off your dancing shoes and join in the fun at the legendary Conference Dinner. Taking place at 7pm on Friday 10th November, it will be a great opportunity to mingle with friends, meet new people and enjoy a bit of ‘down-time’. It is your chance to be in a room full of people who truly ‘get it’.
Everyone attending the conference is invited to join the dinner, children included and kids’ menu offered.
Book your tickets to join us at the Friday Dinner when you register.
