This is a special week to celebrate and say a huge heartfelt thank you to all of our fabulous compassionate volunteers who give some much of their time to Action Duchenne. National Volunteers Week is all about recognising the fabulous contribution volunteers make.
Action Duchenne is just one of many charities who rely heavily on these selfless individuals.
A diverse team making a big impact
Each of our volunteers play a significant part in helping Action Duchenne deliver our life changing work to families living with Duchenne. Our amazing volunteers bring us a diverse range of skills, experience and knowledge that is invaluable in raising awareness about our charity, the life changing work we do and so importantly, building relationships with the Duchenne community to support those living with Duchenne.
We asked our volunteers (many of them Duchenne Parents) to share with us why they volunteer. These quotes are heart warming and truly humbling.
Why do you volunteer?
When we have kids our whole life revolves around them but when you have a child with a serious disease, every thought and every decision is with their needs in mind. I volunteer so that I can feel a part of the Duchenne community and to know that I will not be alone in my journey.

Sebastian’s Duchenne diagnosis often leaves me feeling helpless and overwhelmed. Volunteering for Action Duchenne means that I that I can turn those feelings into positivity by being just a very small part of an amazing charity who make a real difference to the lives families like mine.
Lizzie Deeble – Duchenne Mum | Lead Volunteer
To give something back. Action Duchenne were a shining beacon of help and hope for me in a time when my world was plunged into darkness. If I can help reciprocate that for other families, then I am happy.
