Isaac White tells us all about his first fundraising event for Action Duchenne
“Party Planning is what I was born to do! Enjoy!”
On Friday 19th May,19 year old Isaac White held an amazing event combining his love for food and electronic music with his ‘Sounds of Shefflied’ evening. As well as music, there was a quiz and a delicious 3 course meal. Isaac is a natural born event planner who studies at Sheaf College. He has been working with Blend Kitchen to design and plan the menu and organise the event. He was also involved in helping them to design their new fully wheelchair accessible catering kitchen.
The ‘Sounds of Sheffield’ quiz night was a big success.
The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming and the restaurant was full. The music was on while people arrived, and after everyone got their drinks I welcomed them.Next we had the soup and pie, which were delicious. The quiz was good fun. Especially when my dad asked why ‘Vienna’ only got to Number 2 in 1981 and one team called out ‘Shut up a your face!,’ And everyone said ‘Boo hiss!’
Lots of people dressed in Miami Vice type outfits. One person had a ‘Don’t You Want Me Baby’ t-shirt and pink hair.
I had called the dessert ‘Cadbury Voltaire’, after the experimental Sheffield band Cabaret Voltaire. It was a deep, chocolatey, rich vegan chocolate cake with vegan vanilla ice cream. Yum!
There were some great prizes, including two limited edition albums donated by contemporary Sheffield band Randolph and Mortimer.
All in all, a great evening and we raised £174 for Action Duchenne.
