Introducing Our Newest Trustee: Emma Simmonds
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees at Action Duchenne, I extend a warm welcome
to Emma as our newest trustee. In joining our board, Emma will have an important
role in steering our charity’s growth, ensuring transparency and accountability, and
upholding our core values. Emma has been a familiar face at our conference for
many years and we are very grateful for her continued support for our work.”
Gary Fegan, Trustee of Action Duchenne
Let’s hear what Emma has to say:
“I live in Hampshire and have two grown up children.
I have worked in education throughout my career, both here in the UK and Australia,
where I lived for 6 years. I have spent the last 11 years working for an Independent
Specialist School and College, supporting young people with physical disabilities. I
am passionate about ensuring young people and their families have access to the
right education, and to ensure all of their health and care needs are met. I attend and
represent at SEN Tribunals and therefore have a thorough knowledge and wealth of
experience in the frameworks that underpin this legislation.
I have supported Action Duchenne and attended the International Conference
through my line of work over the years. I am really honoured to have been appointed
as a Trustee and look forward to working with Florence and Trustees to support the
Charity and its aims.” Emma Simmonds, Trustee of Action Duchenne
“Emma’s expertise, experience, and dedication to supporting young people with
physical disabilities and their families will undoubtedly enrich the work of our board
and contribute significantly to our strategic direction. We are excited to leverage her
insights to further strengthen our impact in the community and drive positive change.
The entire team at Action Duchenne, is looking forward to working closely with
Emma and the rest of the board.” Florence Boulton, CEO of Action Duchenne
