A big congratulations to Alexis Ellison who cycled an astonishing 282 miles in 24.5 hours this weekend, completely unsupported.
2 years ago Lex, dad to Samson, Leo and Rosie, decided he wanted to do a big fundraiser for us, but didn’t want to travel away from his family to do so (Samson, who lives with Duchenne had been admitted to hospital on one of Lex’s previous trips away fundraising).
So, the idea to cycle the 9 mile leg between his town of St Neots and neighbouring Godmanchester came to life!
Last year, Lex completed 219 miles, and set himself a BIG personal target this year. Lex’s motto has always been that it’s only fear that is holding us back, and he certainly showed his mettle through scorching heat, dehydration and exhaustion to completely smash it this weekend!
Samson’s older brother Leo (9) accompanied Lex the final 9 mile leg of the journey and a crowd of supporters welcomed them over the finish line at midday on Sunday.
Through sharing his story locally, in Facebook groups and press, Lex raised £277 which takes their JustGiving family fundraising total to £6,488.
Check out their journey Strong for Samson
