On the 17th and 18th July, John O’Brien is cycling from Mizen Head to Malin Head. A journey of 610km. He is taking on the challenge to raise money for Action Duchenne and Join Our Boys – another charity dedicated to raising awareness of Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
It will be tough but we have been training very hard and we’re looking forward to it. The aim is to raise as much money as possible for the two charities and to raise awareness about Duchenne muscular dystrophy because so many people know nothing about the condition.
John O’Brien
John will set off from Mizen Head at 7am on Saturday 17th July and aim to reach Malin Head by 6pm the following day. They will pass through Derry, where John has lived for the past 20 years.
The O’Doherty family
Niall O’Doherty is 14 years old and lives with Duchenne, he and his family live in Derry. The O’Doherty family have raised thousands of pounds to support the work of Action Duchenne.
We are so appreciative of people like John who go out of their way to support us and other families affected by this condition. It is a condition that affects a lot of families throughout Ireland but most people know very little about it.

Along with the O’Doherty’s, we are incredibly touched that John is taking on this epic challenge. We wish him all the best on his journey!
